John has over ten years experience studying and working with children and adolescents
in Hong Kong and Australia. He specializes in administering and interpreting
comprehensive psycho-educational assessments and working with children and
adolescents with behavioral, social, or emotional difficulties. He employs the latest
evidence-based programs and therapies, which confront the wide range of issues
children, adolescents, and their families have to face in life and in Hong Kong.
John has lived the majority of his life in Hong Kong, completing his primary and
secondary education here, before moving to the UK where he attained an Honors Degree
in Psychology. He then relocated to Western Australia where he received a Masters
in Applied Developmental Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Special Education.
John currently works as a developmental psychologist conducting psycho-educational
assessments in Hong Kong and China. He provides individual and family therapy
for children and adolescents who are intellectually advanced and children who have
Aspergers Syndrome and other social difficulties. Moreover, John has experience
working with children who have learning difficulties or attentional problems. In addition,
John runs group programs and is a certified FRIENDS facilitator and trainer. John
also provides professional development to teachers and administrators throughout
schools in Hong Kong and in Shanghai. He consults to numerous international schools
in Hong Kong and has spoken on a range of psychological and educational topics.
In addition to his work at Therapy Associates (HK) Ltd. and the Jadis Blurton Family
Development Center, John also consults and volunteers for a number of parent support
groups and charities in HK. He is currently the Vice-President of the Psychotherapy
Society and is an Executive Committee Member for The Dyslexia Association of Hong
Kong. John supervises Master level students in child/adolescent psychology, therapy,
and assessment. He is also currently completing a Doctor in Education with a focus on
Educational Psychology.
